The maintenance of a swimming pool is simple only if you know how to do it. We have all been beginners in trying to maintain cleanliness and cleanliness of the water, so we appreciate that there is enough information available.
We send you a general user manual for the treatment, as well as the products you will need.
Swimming pool treatment: what do I need to know?
We order the essential points about what you should know about the treatment and, by extension, the products for swimming pools that you should have in your arsenal.
It is worth mentioning, of course, that we have been doing this since the beginning, but that each swimming pool has specific characteristics that need to be addressed.
You must combine two treatments, such as- 1) the actual cleaning of the water, with the use of a purification equipment supported by a filter that, by means of a pump, retains the organic matter that may exist; and 2) a chemical treatment that provides the pool with sufficient disinfectant against bacteria and other microorganisms. The water should not only be clean at first sight to make the Year appealing but also have optimal health conditions to make the bath safe.
It is done through the pool purification equipment which basically consists of a pump, sand filter, and a selector valve. Before you activate the system, you must make sure that the water line is at least half the skimmer or skimmers.
After this check, the handle with which the valve is usually fitted must be carried to the filtration position, and the filter pump must be set in motion. It is recommended that these position changes are made with the pump stopped.
The pump will begin to absorb the water through sinkhole, skimmers and dustbins. The dirt will remain in different filters and barriers, such as the suction mouth of the same mop or the baskets of the skimmer, where you can see leaves, insects, hair, etc.
The water, for its part, runs through the entire purification circuit until it reaches the sand filter, which also retains impurities and organic remains. Then he will return to the pool thanks to the drive nozzles, which are located on the opposite side of the sinkhole and the skimmers.
During the process you should observe, in addition to the water, which should be cleaner, the manometer, a needle that will tell you how much saturated the filter is. Do not exceed 1,3 kg per square centimeter.
The first thing is to put the purification equipment in the filtration position, using the selector valve. It is also advisable to check the pressure indicated on the needle.
The autoflothing hose must be connected to the windbreaker, and immersed in the pool so that it is filled with water and the engine does not catch air. The other end of the hose must be connected to the nozzle to check that it is emptied into the pool, and then taken to the bottom of the washer.
Then the valve of the washer should be opened. You can close the rest so that the suction is 100% effective, before proceeding to the review of the floor and walls of the pool. In fact, if you notice that the balloon cleaner has little suction, you may need to clean the sand.
Cleaning of the bottom should be undertaken periodically, approximately every 15 days. In addition flocculant liquids can be used, which will help the particles in suspension, inside the water, go down to the bottom and can be easily collected by the cleaning.
Chlorine should be placed in the water in any of its formats, and it is recommended to do so at night so that it acts effectively, and is not lost due to the effect of evaporation during the day. The chlorine level should be between 1 and 1.5 particles per million.
Another essential factor is the level of pH or degree of acidity of the water, which must be the correct one. It should be maintained between 7.2 and 7.6 so that it does not reach the acid category on the one hand or alkaline on the other. It allows the bath and makes more effective the action of color towards bacteria.
The measurements are made by means of a basic control test, which is done by collecting a sample of the water from the pool, adding a few drops of the chemical typical of the tests in the small tubes, shaking and observing the change of color. There are also automatic chlorine and pH regulators.
The pool may be maintained by Salt chlorinators as an alternative to lifetime chlorine and other treatment products. Electrolysis keeps the water clean without having to resort to chemicals.
Remember that chemical treatment is important because water, even filtered, can contain bacteria and other microorganisms that must be eliminated.
Washing of filter Sands
This is what the manometer is for. If it indicates that the above 1,3 kg per square centimetre have been exceeded, the selector valve should be washed and, in turn, the drain and return valves should be opened. Having done this, the bomb must be activated for two minutes.
The dirt that is obstructing will be thrown out into the drain, thanks to the reversal of the sense of the water.
The above action requires cleaning sediment filters, which is done by rinsing. The corresponding valve must be placed in such a position and the pump must be connected for one minute.
Then the pump must stop to place the selector valve in Filtration, which will cause the filtered water to end up in the drain, and not in the pool.
Emptying of the pool
In many cases, emptying will be done through the sewage system but, if this is not possible, it can be done through the pump. You have to make sure first, though, that the tube placed behind the skimmer does not contain water. The skimmers and dusting valves must be closed.
The selector valve must then be emptied and the engine must be activated with the drain valve open.
It is another position of the selector valve, which you will need to use, among other times, when you have to load the water purification circuit. It allows the passage of the water that is in the pump, and that will go to the pool, without passing through the filter.
It closes the water flow from the filter to the pump, allowing the pump to be opened so that it can be cleaned, so that a pressure jet can be used.
What products do I need to maintain and clean a pool?
Considering the above, what do you need to keep your pool in optimal conditions? We see the products to clean essential pools, adding a good infrastructure that must also be maintained. The marketed brands such as Gre, Astralpool or Axton.
When we talk about cleaning, we are actually talking about a kit that contains the vacuum cleaner with wheels that review background and walls, a self-cleaning hose that connects to the cleaning and the socket, a telescopic handle for easy handling and several connectors and joints.
There are also, of course, the cleaning robots, which move autonomously through walls and backgrounds. In addition, in small or removable pools, which are not equipped with a filtering system, there are alternatives such as vacuum cleaners that, of course, we also collect on our pages:
- Electric automatic robots
- Analysis and opinions of the best hydraulic washers
- Comparison of manual pool cleaners
- Pool vacuum cleaners
Useful for brushing floors and walls, and used in a complementary way to the pool cleaner.
A product to clarify water, which eliminates particles that cause cloudiness. It can be dosed with the help of a pump, but it can also be poured directly into the pool, diluted in water.
Essential for the disinfection of the swimming pool and of different types. Highlights include liquid chlorine or sodium hypochlorite, multi-action tablets containing anti-algae and flocculant, or saline chlorination. There are therefore formats such as liquid, granulate or multi-action.
Rapid or delayed action, they are used as a prevention against algae. It is not always used, but in times of high temperatures where the chlorine concentration drops, which can make the water turn greenish. For yellowish, pink or black algae, there are also specific algaicides.
A chemical to reduce pH, if measurements reveal it is above 7.6.
The essential gauge for knowing the pH and chlorine levels of the pool, and also available in different formats and designs.
Basket with pole
It can be incorporated or not in the cleaning kit, and is a basket with telescopic handle that helps to collect the remains of the surface.
They have to do not only with the maintenance of the pool, but also with the quality of the bathroom.
Lighting system: The market offers different spotlights depending on the type of lamp, the fixation system or the material itself of the pool. There are even RGB system for color. A power outlet is usually needed nearby, a control system (with Switch, push-button and modulator, depending on whether it is RGB or not), a transformer and the spotlights themselves.
Protective blankets: They are used during the winter season, when the bath is practically non-existent or very rare. It prevents organic debris and other suspended particles from falling into the pool, which are usually carried away by air.
Solar shower: The shower is not only a gesture of Hygiene and deference to other bathers but also prevents the mixing of chlorine and other chemicals that bathers themselves carry into the water from becoming harmful. We’re talking about creams, shampoos or lotions, but also sweat. And can cause irritation.
Solar showers accumulate hot water through the sun, providing a nice shower.
Heat pump: They keep the water at an optimal temperature, so that the bath is pleasant when the weather conditions are not.
HydroMassage devices: These are simple, easy-to-install devices that do not have to be expensive. With them, the pool provides relaxing effects.
Counter-current swim team: It helps physical performance in small swimming pools. It allows swimming without advance.
